From Carl Katz, President, Katz Networks:
Personally my SPAM management is down to 30 seconds a day on average - I
used to spend about five to ten minutes going through my SPAM folder,
pulling out legitimate messages, then deleting the SPAM messages.
currently, all my mail is first redirected to my SPAM/Virus
Filtering service provider, is scrubbed for viruses and SPAM and finally
forwarded to my Microsoft Exchange mail server at 808 Nelson Street
(Nelson Square). There is no appreciable delay in mail delivery.
After an initial tweaking period the first week, the SPAM literally
stopped cold - it was reduced to one or two messages every couple of
months. Twice a day I receive an emailed report that tells me which
'borderline' messages are being held back (about five messages
on average). The frequency of the reports can be increased or decrease
depending on your requirements.
If
there is an incorrectly held message (.01% of all messages received), I
can release and send the message to my inbox by simply clicking on a
link in the 'held mail' report. I never see the most obvious SPAM
(Viagra, Stock Promotions, Software Sales, etc) as it is deleted
immediately upon arrival at my service provider. Also, I haven't
received one single email containing a virus since I implemented this service
for Katz Networks. This
service is only available to clients who receive mail using their
company domain name (i.e. katznetworks.com, microsoft.com), and is not
available for ISP based email (telus.net, shawcable.com).
If
you have your own branded domain name, I challenge you do a quick
cost/benefit analysis: Calculate how much time per day you spend
managing SPAM and multiply it by your value on an hourly, then weekly
and then monthly basis. If you have employees, do the same exercise. I
am saving at least $300 to $400 per month using this solution. Feel free
to contact me for pricing and setup details.
